Moroes

By Ensiid and Arphir of Axis [Dark Iron]

Overview

The former Steward of Medivh's tower has been resurrected by its new, dark master.

Moroes is a single-phase encounter that requires the raid to multi-task and deal with several adversaries at once. Four dinner guests accompany the Steward, all possessing their own special abilities. Moroes' own Garrote ability functions as a "soft enrage" for the fight, creating a time limit; since it cannot be dispelled, when too many people have accumulated Garrote, your healers will become overwhelmed and the raid will wipe.

Abilities

HP: 380,000

Melee: Hits for moderate damage on plate.

Vanish: Moroes disappears from sight and cannot be targeted for a few seconds (no aggro drop).

Garrote: Afflicts a random player with a physical DoT dealing 1000dmg every 3 seconds. 5 minute duration. Garrote is used when Moroes reappears after a Vanish.

Blind: Occasionally afflicts a player in Moroes' melee range with a disorient effect for several seconds.

Preparation

Raid composition

1 Main Tank
1 Offtank
2 Priests or Hunters
3 Healers
5 DPS

Raid Leader Assign each Dinner Guest a number from 1 to 4, using raid symbols. #1 should be the shadow priest, if she is present; otherwise, select one of the dispellers (holy paladin / holy priest). #4 should be the hardest hitting mob (generally Arms Warrior or Retribution Paladin). #4 will be off-tanked so that it does not insta-gib a raider if CC breaks; #2 and #3 will be shackled or trapped.

Positioning

Raid Stand on the large dining table after clearing the room.

Main Tank Stand in front of the raid.

Priest, Hunter, Offtank If assigned to shackle, trap, or tank a dinner guest, stand close behind the Main Tank.

Macros

Use the following macro to help assign the roles in your raid:

/rw -- INC ASSIGNMENTS (PHASE 1) --
/raid Main Tank: [1 MT]
/raid Offtank: [1 OT]
/raid Shacklers/Trappers: #2: [Priest or Hunter], #3: [Priest or Hunter]

Main Tank Begin the encounter by shooting Moroes. Move him to the right hand side of the room and build aggro. When Moroes vanishes, do not move; he will be back.

Priest, Hunter Shackle or trap the add to which you were assigned. Shackle should be recasted every few seconds in order to compensate for potential heartbeat resists.

Off Tank Tank the add to which you were assigned by the raid leader. Frontload thread as quickly as possible, then move to Moroes and build aggro on him as well. You must remain #1 on aggro for your own target, and #2 on Moroes' aggro table so that you can tank him when the Main Tank is gouged.

DPS Kill add #1, which should be assigned by your raid leader. Then kill any trapped adds, one at a time, then kill any shackled adds, one at a time. Finally, DPS Moroes until he is dead.

Healers Keep the raid alive. Make a mental note when someone is Garroted; the most effective way to address Garrotes is usually to keep a few HoTs on the affected players. The Main Tank and Offtank will typically take the bulk of damage; however, high aggro DPS'ers will typically be targeted by the Dinner Guest that is being DPS'ed, and will require healing until the first three Guests are down.

Be sure to Dispel or Cleanse Blind when Moroes uses it. Paladins can also use Blessing of Protection to nullify Garotte if it gets out of hand or afflicts a key player.
