A perverted, disease-spreading horror deep within the Plague Quarter.

Grobbulus is a straightforward, single-phase encounter that requires all players to be aware of their positioning and move away from allies to avoid damaging each other.


Gear and consumables

Like most Wrath of the Lich King raid encounters, this fight is tuned for players who are using level 80 epic gear, as well as the best flasks and food buffs available. Getting the best possible gear for your character will make this fight a whole lot easier.

In WotLK, professions can be used to craft high quality epic gear. Most raid and heroic bosses also drop an epic bind-on-equip item. These items are the easiest way to get your character geared up fast, but they’re expensive to craft or buy on the AH. The easiest way to get your hands on them is to use a guide like WoW Gold Secrets, which has tips for making several thousand gold per day. This is a great way to save time and down bosses faster.

HP: 2,938,000 (Heroic: 9,596,000)

Poison Cloud: Dropped by Grobbulus every ~15-20sec, Starts off at 10yards and expands over time. Does 2,000 (Heroic: 4,500) Nature damage per tick. Last ~75 Sec.

Slime Spray: 45 degree frontal cone spray in front of the boss, unlimited range, hits for 3600 to 4800 (Heroic: 11,875 to 13,125) Nature damage. Players hit will spawn a Fallout Slime.

Mutating Injection: Injects a Random Raid member. After 10 seconds it will do 8075 to 8925 AOE physical damage. Will do a lower-damage AOE when cleansed. After the debuff wears off or when cleansed, the target will create a Poison Cloud identical to those Grobbulus spawns.

Slime Stream: An AoE DoT deals 4,500 Nature damage over 3 sec. This ability is possibly triggered when the MT gets out of the melee range of Grobbulus. (Happens sometimes when MT rounds a corner or changing position, Or if Over-threat ranged gets too close.)

Fallout Slime: will do ~2000-2500 AOE Nature damage to anyone within 15 yard range. Melee Hits 2.5k on plate. Kill ASAP.

Enrage: Hard enrage at 6 minutes, increases Damage done by 1,000%, increases Haste by 150%, will quickly wipe the raid.



Raid Composition (10-man)

2 Tanks
3 healers

Raid Leader, Healers Assign one healer to the Main Tank, one healer to the Offtank, and 1 Raid healer. Since the Offtank will only take damage when tanking Fallout Slimes, his healer can also assist the other two.

Offtank Create a macro: “/target Fallout Slime” (without quotations of course). Place this macro on your hotbar or a keybind to easily target Fallout Slimes when they spawn.


On the Pull

Raid Position yourselves as indicated in the diagram.

Main Tank You must walk up the ramp to the second level of the room. Pull Grobbulus at your maximum range, then run back toward the ramp and jump onto it. Grobbulus will follow you down and you can begin to build threat.


Phase One

Ranged DPS, Healers Position yourselves in the center of the room.

Main Tank Kite Grobbulus around outer edge of the room along the wall, as per the diagram. When Poison Clouds appear on top of Grobbulus every 15-20 seconds, you’ll have to move far enough to get yourself, Grobbulus, and the Melee DPS out of them (probably around 8-10 paces). Try and leave enough room in-between Poison Clouds so that raid members who are hit with Mutating Injection can run into the clear spaces in your previous kiting path while waiting for the Injection debuff to expire.

Melee DPS Stand behind Grobbulus and follow him as he’s moved around the room. Move away from Poison Clouds that appear behind Grobbulus. Don’t stand in front of him, or you’ll catch Slime Spray. The only person in front of Grobbulus should be the Main Tank.

Offtank Pick up any Fallout Slimes that spawn, and drag them 15 yards away from other members of the raid. Since the raid is constantly moving it’s hard to pick a “Fallout Slime tanking area,” so do what you can to minimize the damage the raid takes.

Ranged DPS Damage Grobbulus. When Fallout Slimes spawn, switch your target to them and kill them, then return to Grobbulus. Only one Fallout Slime will spawn at a time, unless someone other than the Main Tank stands in front of Grobbulus.

Healers Heal your assigned targets. You’ll be Injected during the fight along with everyone else, so make sure to help each other out. The Main Tank will take continuous damage, the Offtank takes spikes when tanking Slimes, and the Raid will take consistent damage until Grobbulus reaches 30% health, when the damage gets heavier and faster.

Raid Every 20 seconds or so, Grobbulus will hit someone with Mutating Injection. If you get hit with it, quickly move away from the raid and over to an area where the Main Tank has ALREADY kited Grobbulus, until the 10 second debuff drops. Once it drops, quickly return to your original position before you get caught in the Poison Cloud that will appear on your location.

Mutating Injections will occur more frequently when Grobbulus reaches 30% health. Continue to kill Slimes and DPS Grobbulus. The Poison Clouds do not despawn immediately after Grobbulus dies, so be careful.
